Daniel Negreanu Wins WSOP Asian Pacific Main Event

Last Updated on

dn

Kid Poker, known on his Canadian birth certificate as Daniel Negreanu, has racked up another big win in the poker world, capturing the title at the first World Series of Poker Asian Pacific main event of 2013. Beating out a 405 player field at the event held at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia, Negreanu has now officially notched his fifth WSOP bracelet, his first since 2008. His payout, meanwhile, of AU$1,038,825 (or USD $1,038,825) was his first 7-figure payday in any WSOP event.

In heads-up play against the man that would become runner-up Daniel Marton, Negreanu had a commanding chip lead of 9 to 1. This also gives Negreanu the lead in the 2013 Player of the Year contest, admittedly still early in its running. But having finished fourth the Event #3, the WSOP APAC AU$2,20 Mixed Event, certainly helps. That event, incidentally, comprised of 8 games in one, was won by Kid Poker’s good friend and fellow poker pro Phil Ivey, who claimed with this win his 9th World Series of Poker bracelet.

Neagreanu’s first WSOP bracelet came in 1998 when he was just 23 years old, at the time the youngest player ever to pick up a WSOP bracelet. This WSOP APAC Main Event win brings his career winnings to over $17 million. Daniel Neagreanu travels the world representing the Poker Stars team of professional players in events like the upcoming PokerStars and Monte-CarloCasino European Poker Tour Grand Final, Europe’s largest poker tournament, taking place in Monaco, as well as the upcoming World Series of Poker in Las Vegas this summer.

BlackChip Poker Moving to Winning Poker Network

Last Updated on

BlackChip Poker has announced that they are leaving the Merge Poker Network and will move to the Winning Poker Network.  Winning, formerly Yatahay, already hosts the popular Americas Cardroom.  This announcement comes on the heels of BlackChip abruptly pulling out of the Merge Network Poker Maximus series.  BlackChip Poker posted a brief statement on their Facebook page moments ago.  Below is the full text of that statement.

We’re pleased to announce that on Monday we’ll be moving to the Winning Poker Network. WPN have a reputation for providing the best payouts and customer service of any US-facing network, and we felt this move would be beneficial for our players and partners.
We look forward to providing the level of service our players and affiliates have come to expect from us over the last few years.

Just to clarify a few points:

1) p2p transfers will be available again next week (after the move);
2) It will be necessary for players to be verified by WPN, regardless of whether or not they’ve previously been verified by Merge. We will email players who have a pending withdrawal on Monday to explain how they can go about this to ensure they’re paid as quickly as possible; We’ll be happy to answer any operational questions, but please understand that we’re keen to look towards a positive future. We know payouts are a top priority for those who have been waiting and these will be expedited once the move is complete. Any queries should be directed to vip@blackchippoker.eu

We look forward to a great future on the Winning Poker Network.

Carbon Poker Introduces $5K Value Added Tourneys for December

Last Updated on

Throughout this month of December 2011, Carbon Poker is holding a series of Value Added Tournaments, meaning that to whatever the prize pool amounts to based on registered player buy-ins, Carbon Poker will contribute an additional amount. In this case, that amount is $1,000. And with five of these such tournaments scheduled for December 2011, that makes for $5,000 in Value Added Tournaments.

In an interesting twist on the conventional tourney buy-in, to enter these tournaments you must pay a cash buy-in and earn a minimum of 250 VIP points. The cash part of the buy-ins decreases as the series progresses, with the December 10th tournament costing $10 + $1, the December 17th event costing $5 + $0.50, the December 24th, Christmas Eve, event costing $2 + $0.20, the December 25th, Christmas Day, event costing $1 + $0.10 and the December 31st, New Years Eve event costing $1 + $0.10 as well.

To earn VIP points, simply participate in real money cash ring games and tournaments at Carbon Poker. Every time a hand makes it to the flop, the players still in the hand at that time receive VIP points.

You must earn 250 additional VIP points for each successive Value Added Tournament you wish to enter beyond the first one. However, the VIP points you earn for the entry requirements for these Value Added Tournaments will not be deducted from your account once you enter the event. That means you may still utilize these VIP points for such benefits as guaranteed tournament entries, live seat satellite entries, to unlock bonuses and exchange for cash.
