Poker Stars Finds New Jersey Casino Partner

Last Updated on

resorts

Formerly the undisputed king of its game, Poker Stars has recently suffered some tough times and has of late been bouncing back with some difficulty from the foils of Black Friday, April 15, 2011. Among those troubles was a rapidly closing deadline to file for a permit with the state of New Jersey to offer online poker legally to residents of the state. The holdup was Poker Stars’ inability to land a deal with one of the land-based casinos in the area: not a requirement for entry into the NJ online poker game, but certainly a foot in the door, and one which its biggest competitors had already taken.

The land based casino that has facilitated Poker Stars’ entry into New Jersey’s fledgling online poker industry is Resorts Casino Hotel, according to a statement released by The Rational Group which owns Poker Stars.

Resorts is also partners with Margaritaville and Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. Founded in 1978 and the first U.S. Casino to set up shop outside of Nevada, the Resorts Hotel and Casino in New Jersey is situated right on the Atlantic City boardwalk. This prime location is sure to be a boon for Poker Stars now as well.

Recently Poker Stars was in talks to strike up a similar deal with the Atlantic Club Casino but that never saw the light of day.

Now that Poker Stars was able to hop on Resorts’ coattails in time to file the necessary partnership details for consideration to go live when online gaming in the state does, its next step is to file, jointly with Resorts, its full application for a permit by the deadline of July 29, 2013.

Lock Poker Battle of the Nexus Rake Race

Last Updated on

nexus

This month Lock Poker kicked off its Battle of the Nexus rake race, with the potential to win $45,244 in individual cash prizes, plus leaderboard prizes, and it runs until all the prizes have been given out.

The Lock Poker Battle of the Nexus rake race takes place at all real money cash game and tournament tables at the site, including the promotional Nexus tables. At both the regular tables and Nexus tables, players are tracked on how much they pay in cash game rake and tournament fees. As a player’s total contribution to rake and fees climbs, so too does the player climb through promotional prize levels, with a cash prize waiting on each level. The higher you climb, the bigger the prize, and more, these prizes are cumulative. But there are also only a limited number of prizes at each level, and when a level is out of prizes, players must climb to the next level before they receive a prize (and hope that those haven’t all been given out too).

As you can see, it pays to play soon and often at Lock Poker if you want to collect as many Battle of the Nexus prizes as you can. And keep in mind that at the Nexus tables there is an extra booty of prizes available that may not all have been given out, even if that same level is cleared of prizes for regular cash game and tournament play.

And as mentioned in the intro to this post, there is also a Battle of the Nexus leaderboard promotion where you can earn extra prizes. Return here tomorrow to learn all about this part of the promotion.

Americas Cardroom Holds The Beast $50K GTD

Last Updated on

b50k

The next The Beast $50K Guaranteed tournament coming out of Americas Cardroom is coming up this Sunday, February 10, 2013. The buy-in is $50 + $5 and the name of the game, of course, is Texas Hold’em. The action starts at 6:00 pm ET.

Now keep in mind, The Beast $50K Guarantee tournament is not replacing the regular $50K guaranteed event that Americas Cardroom ordinarily has every Sunday at 7:00 pm ET. That means there’s $100K guaranteed on the table that night across just two tournaments at America’s Cardroom.

Players can avoid the $55 buy-in cost to get into The Beast $50K Guarantee through a satellite tournament, being offered daily at 6:35 pm ET. The buy-in for this event is $7 + $0.70 and each event awards the top 2 players seats The Beast $50K Guarantee.

There’s also a The Beast $50K Super Satellite taking place daily, every hour at 5 minutes after the hour. These events cost only $0.25 + $0.02. And each event awards 2 seats to that night’s The Beast $50K Satellite.

The Beast, to the uninitiated, is America’s Cardroom’s progressive rake race, offering a guaranteed jackpot that gets awarded every month. The Beast jackpot rises throughout the month as more players play at jackpot tables at the site. Players earn points for playing at these jackpot tables which are then tracked on leaderboard, with the top finishers at the end of each month winning a share of a 6-figure jackpot. Then it resets for the next month and the fun starts all over again.

BlackChip Poker Moving to Winning Poker Network

Last Updated on

BlackChip Poker has announced that they are leaving the Merge Poker Network and will move to the Winning Poker Network.  Winning, formerly Yatahay, already hosts the popular Americas Cardroom.  This announcement comes on the heels of BlackChip abruptly pulling out of the Merge Network Poker Maximus series.  BlackChip Poker posted a brief statement on their Facebook page moments ago.  Below is the full text of that statement.

We’re pleased to announce that on Monday we’ll be moving to the Winning Poker Network. WPN have a reputation for providing the best payouts and customer service of any US-facing network, and we felt this move would be beneficial for our players and partners.
We look forward to providing the level of service our players and affiliates have come to expect from us over the last few years.

Just to clarify a few points:

1) p2p transfers will be available again next week (after the move);
2) It will be necessary for players to be verified by WPN, regardless of whether or not they’ve previously been verified by Merge. We will email players who have a pending withdrawal on Monday to explain how they can go about this to ensure they’re paid as quickly as possible; We’ll be happy to answer any operational questions, but please understand that we’re keen to look towards a positive future. We know payouts are a top priority for those who have been waiting and these will be expedited once the move is complete. Any queries should be directed to vip@blackchippoker.eu

We look forward to a great future on the Winning Poker Network.
