Big Hearts Pay at Cake Poker in February

Last Updated on

For the Cake Poker Gold Cards Match and Win Game for February, 2012, players can earn between $50 and $1,000 in cash, just for receiving a Gold Card that is either a face card or Ace in the suit of Hearts. Get $1k for that hearted Ace, $250 for a hearted King, $100 for a hearted Queen, and $50 for the hearted Jack.

There are also the usual collection of prize-winning opportunities on the Match and Win Game board for February of 2012 for other Gold Cards and Gold Card combos above and beyond the big-paying hearts.

And remember, what with it being a leap year there’s an extra day to this month, which means an extra day to earn Gold Cards and win extra cash at Juicy Stakes Poker and Cake Poker. Only Gold Cards earned from February 1 at midnight GMT through the minute before midnight on February 29 are eligible for prizes in this game.

Players earn Gold Cards when they pay toward the rake in cash games. Gold Cards are distributed randomly, so you never know which Gold Card you’ll be dealt next. One Gold Card is dealt at random to one of the players in the hand (whether or not they won, lost or folded) every time a set rake is reached. Only Gold Cards earned at the ring game tables at Cake Poker qualify for this game, meaning that Gold Cards bought at The Exchange do not qualify.

There are multiple Gold Cards of each value in the monthly vault, and each individual player is free to win the same prize repeatedly as many times as they can.

Cake Poker Holds Irish Open 2012 Satellites

Last Updated on

In an earlier post about satellite tournaments at Cake Poker for the 2012 Aussie Millions, we informed you of the site’s approaching Irish Open 2012 satellite series as well, with a promise to provide more detailed information as that time neared.

Well it is now upon us: the Cake Poker Irish Open 2012 satellite series is on, with prize packages valued at $6,000 that cover the €3,500 buy-in into the main event, accommodations and expenses. Unlike many poker sites that require satellite winners to attend the event to which they win a prize package, with no cash redemption value, Cake Poker delivers all the winners’ prizes in the form of $6,000 cash deposited directly into their CakePoker accounts. Players can choose to use that $6,000 to attend the Irish Open, keep that $6k in their player account and use it for playing more online poker at CakePoker, or they can withdraw the money as cash and use it in whatever other way they like.

This is Cake Poker’s fifth year holding satellite tournaments into the Irish Open, which happens to be the longest running live poker tournament in all of Europe, started in the early ’80s when three poker legends: Doyle Brunson, Amarillo Slim and Stu Unger too annual pilgrammages to Dublin, Ireland over Easter to play high stakes poker against some of Ireland’s best poker players.

The $6k Cake Poker Irish Open 2012 satellites take place January 8 and 22, February 5 and 19, and March 4 and 18.

Cake Poker’s Final Aussie Millions Qualifier December 18

Last Updated on

This Sunday, December 18, 2011, will be Cake Poker’s final Aussie Millions 2012 qualifier. This is the December Aussie Millions $16,000 Final for a $16K prize package that includes the $10,600 AUD main event buy-in, a ticket to the Aussie Millions 10th Anniversary VIP Player Party and some spending cash to help out with travel and accommodation expenses.

The event starts at 5 pm EST and has a $250 + $18 direct buy-in. Players can still win seats in this event through satellites if they hurry. There are still Aussie Millions $16K Super Satellites running for as little as $0.20, as well as $2.20 and $6.50 semi-qualifiers, $11 satellites and $40 semi-finals. Many of these events have rebuys and add-ons.

The next Aussie Millions takes place in Melbourne, Australia from January 12 to 30, 2012 and features an estimated $2 million AUD grand prize for the first place finisher. The estimated total prize pool for this upcoming event is $20 million AUD.

Also taking place now at Cake Poker is a similar satellite series to qualify players for the 2012 Super Poker Event of Europe, taking place at Citywest Hotel in Dublin, Ireland between February 25 and 26, 2012. Also happening in Dublin next year is the 2012 Irish Open, happening April 5 to 9. And as it happens, Cake Poker satellites for the Irish Open 2012 start on December 18, 2011; yes, the same date as the last chance to get in on a 2012 Aussie Millions Final Qualifier.

Cake Poker Now Allows Hand Tracking Software

Last Updated on

Cake Poker is incredibly popular among the United States poker players today, but one thing that made them a bit different than many online poker sites was the fact that they did not allow players to use Hand Tracking Software.  The site had decided to avoid allowing players to use this for years now, until just this past week.  Cake Poker created a brand new policy, which in turn would allow their players to use Hand Tracking Software such as Poker Tracker and Hold’em Manager.

This software gives players the chance to collect information about the players who they are up against in cash games or tournaments, and saves the information.  Players have the option to go back and watch how hands were played, and also to see what their opponents were holding in their hand, if the hand went to showdown.  It also gives information on bet sizes, chip stacks throughout the hands, community cards, and what the final result was.  One of the other popular features that these programs offer, is the ability to track your wins and losses for the day, week, month, or year.  This helps players know when their game is improving, or if they have not be playing incredibly well as of late.

Another thing that the software does is allows players to use a Heads Up Display (HUD).  This HUD gives players information about opponents at their table ranging from their pre-flop raise percentages, aggression factor, and often they play a hand in general.  The HUD is where the complaints have come from mainly, with recreational players feeling that it gives professionals an unfair advantage.  Of course, the argument from the other side is that this software is available to everyone and anyone who wants to purchase it.

It will be interesting to see how this affects Cake Poker’s online traffic in the upcoming months, and also if it fills up their high stakes tables as well.  Cake Poker does allow recreational players the option to avoid being tracked though, by letting them change their poker screen name every seven days.  In the end, this could be good news for both types of players, and should keep Cakes’ online traffic growing!

Cake Poker Revives Turbo Gold Cards in November

Last Updated on

Every month Cake Poker issues a new Gold Cards set and creates a fresh new Match & Win Game board to apply them to for winning cash and other prizes. For some of those months, Cake Poker holds a Turbo Gold Cards promotion giving players the chance to accumulate those invaluable cards at an even quicker rate. This November of 2011 is one such month.

Turbo Gold Cards hours, during which Cake Poker will release Gold Cards at twice the rate it otherwise does, are 06:00 to 08:00 GMT, 14:00 to 16:00 GMT and 20:00 to 22:00 GMT.

Win prizes in the Match and Win game by matching Gold Cards in your hand to specific Gold Cards or combinations of them on the Match and Win game board. This will earn you entries into various freeroll tournaments totalling $10,000 in value. You can also sell Gold Cards at the CakePoker Exchance, kind of like a stock exchange for Gold Cards. The only thing is you can’t use Gold Cards you purchase at The Exchance for the Match and Win game board.

Cake Poker players receive Gold Cards while playing raked hands in cash tables. Gold Cards are not distributed at CakePoker’s tournaments, although Gold Chips are. Gold Chips are not eligible, however, for use on the Match and Win game board.

The Match & Win game board for November of 2011 can be found in the Cake Poker software under Rewards and then Gold Cards. Only Gold Cards earned between November 1 and 30 are eligible for prizes on the November, 2011 Match and Win game board.

Cake Poker Helps Celebrate Super Poker Event of Europe 2012

Last Updated on

The Super Poker Event of Europe 2012, otherwise known as Super 2012 for short, is planned to be the largest poker event, by player pool, in European history, with a whopping 4,000 player field. The event, featuring tables dealt 100% by fully professional dealers, will take place at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin, Ireland from February 25 to 26, 2012, in its Citywest International Conference and Events Center. On the event’s final day March 31, the 8 remaining players will all be flown to a secret spot to play out the final table securely. The final table action will be streamed live over the Internet.

Cake Poker is planning to send players to this event through a series of satellite tournaments starting with buy-ins at just $0.20. Super 2012 Satellites run from November 1 through February 12 at Cake Poker with each top prize package valued at $1,500 and including the €300 + €40 buy-in into the Super 2012 main event as well as a cash stipend to help pay for travel and hotel accommodations and, of course, an official Cake Poker gear pack.

There are daily Super Satellites, Satellites and Semi-Final Satellites, all leading up to a $1,500 Final Satellite. The Super Poker $1,500 Final, then, takes place once per month between now and February 12 (see the site for details) for a $54 direct buy-in, with one Super 2012 prize package going out for every $1,500 in the prize pool. Many of these satellites are rebuy and add-on events.

Turbo Gold Cards Return to Cake Poker

Last Updated on

Once more, the Turbo Gold Cards promotion has made a reapearrance at Cake Poker, giving players the chance to earn Gold Cards for the $10,000 Match and Win game twice as fast during selected hours.

The October Match and Win Game board is out, and only Gold Cards earned between October 1 and 31 can be used on it. Match your Gold Cards to those on the Match and Win game board and win seats in as many as $10,000 worth of freeroll tournaments. You can’t even by Gold Cards for the Match and Win game at Cake Poker’s The Exchange (where you can indeed by Gold Cards but not ones eligible for this promotion.) You can only earn them by playing at Cake Poker’s real money cash ring game tables.

And if you play during the hours of 6 to 8 am, 2 to 4 pm or 8 to 10 pm GMT, you’ll earn those Gold Cards at twice the rate. That’s a 2-for-1 special on Gold Cards for 6 hours of every day in October, 2011.

Gold Cards that don’t help you with the Match and Win game board can still be sold and swapped at The Exchange. And they can be used to earn players other prizes, like seats in exclusive Gold Card tournaments where no cash buy-ins are allowed.

Tournament players, meanwhile, can still earn Gold Chips at Cake Poker, which also make them eligible for a whole other range of prizes. Gold Chips are not, however, part of the Match and Win Game or Turbo Gold Cards promotion.

Cake Poker Kicks Off Football Season With Guaranteed Boosters

Last Updated on

Football season is starting in the U.S. and Europe and Cake Poker is kicking off two football-themed bonuses to celebrate. For fans of football in Europe and the U.K., the site is holding The Footie 50 Challenge and for fans of NFL football in the United States, the site is holding Money Night Football.

Both events involve guaranteed tournaments taking place Monday nights at Cake Poker. The first is $3,000 Guaranteed rebuy and add-on event taking place at 6:30 pm ET Monday nights with a $33 buy-in. As part of the Footie 50 Challenge, the guarantee on that event will be boosted to $5,000 for the entire month of September. Similarly, as part of the Money Night Football promo, the prize pool on the $2,000 guaranteed tournament taking place Monday nights at 8:30 pm ET for a $22 buy-in will be boosted to $4,000.

The top 50 players at each of these two Monday night events will also get, in addition to their prize money from the pot, a seat in a freeroll tournament happening the following weekend. In both cases the prize pool is a guaranteed $2,000, to be split among the top 10 finishers.

And if both of these opportunities sound good to you, whether you’re a fan of football U.S. or U.K. style, or both or not at all, the Footie 50 Challenge and Money Night Football promotions are set up such that you can participate in both.
