Bodog Poker to be renamed in the US

Last Updated on

Calvin Ayre announced this morning that the Bodog Brand is leaving the US. Most players took this to mean that Bodog is leaving the US but that’s not really the case. Over the past few years the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group’s (MMGG) has been licensing the Bodog name and will continue to operate the poker and sportsbook under a new name come January 1st, 2012. We realize this is a bit confusing but for you as a player the only change will be the name of the site. All deposits/withdrawls, support and software has been operated by MMGG. in other words Bodog has had nothing to do with the site other then have it’s name on it for the past 5 years.

So to recap, the only change you will see is the name of the site. Here’s what Calvin had to say “It will mean the end of the Bodog era in the US but Morris Mohawk Gaming has been operating the brand in the US Market for the past 5 years so other than a name change it should be business as usual for US players”. There is no reason to fear this change.

For those of you who have been around for a while this is exactly like when Poker.com switched to PDCPoker.com because their leasing agreement with the owners of Poker.com expired. All that changed was the name of the site but play continued as usual.

Bodog Poker Now Offering 110% First Deposit Bonus Up To $1,100

Last Updated on

New players at Bodog Poker can now earn as much as a 110% match on their initial deposits into a Bodog Poker real money account, up to a maximum bonus amount of $1,100.

Here’s how it works: players download the poker software and register for their new Bodog account. Then they make their first deposit. Instantly, they receive a 10% match on that amount. Then they proceed to play at Bodog Poker, as they do so accumulating poker points. At certain target levels of poker points reached, Bodog Poker will issue another cash bonus on top of any bonuses already awarded. With the first 100 points, for example, players earn $10. After 500 poker points, players get an additional $40. The targets and awards increase from there until accumulating 10,000 points and getting the final $400 bonus for a cumulative $1,100 maximum possible bonus.

Players can earn poker points through a number of different methods. All players earn poker points at a rate of 1 point per 60 minutes for every hour they spend playing at the site. Additionally, tournament players earn three more points for every dollar they spend in fees. And ring game players earn poker points based on how much they contribute to the rake taken from each pot.

These are the only redemption requirements for this bonus. Bodog Poker does not impose any additional rollover or play-through requirements on bonus money earned in this particular promotion. That means you can withdraw the bonus cash as soon as you earn it. But then you’d be missing out on all the fun of playing at Bodog Poker, of course.

Bodog Poker Holding $15K in Monthly Freerolls

Last Updated on

Bodog Poker is now holding $15,000 worth of freeroll tournaments each month. Players qualify for these freerolls using Bodog Poker Points earned through the regular course of play at Bodog Poker’s cash game and tournament tables. Or you can skip the qualifiers and pay the buy-in, also in Bodog Poker Points of course. Either way, twice per month, Bodog is holding these events, and giving away at $7.5K prize pool at each.

The cheapest way to get in is for 25 Bodog points. That’s the buy-in for the 10:40 pm daily freeroll (weekends included), each of which sends the top 15 players to the $7.5K freeroll final. For 200 Bodog points you can get in the 6:10 pm daily freeroll (weekends also included) from each of which 10 players advance to the $7.5K final.

In between these two buy-ins is an event for 150 Bodog points that takes place all day every day. It’s a Sit & Go, of course, six-handed, each one sending its winner to $7.5K final.

Remember, there are no cash entries into these freerolls and their freeroll qualifiers. To earn more Bodog poker points to use toward entry into any of these events, simply play poker at Bodog’s real money tournament and cash tables. Every time Bodog takes a fee from your tournament buy-in or a rake from your cash game pot, you earn points.

On the 2nd and final Saturday of every month, Bodog Poker will hold the $7.5K Freeroll final at 2:20 pm, with the top 20% of its players splitting the $7.5K prize pool, and the winner receiving $1K.

All times are Eastern time zone.

Bodog Cash PerSuit, Win an iPad2

Last Updated on

Bodog Poker wants you to have a new iPad2.  Join Bodog Poker’s new Cash PerSuit promotion and you can win cash bonuses, freeroll entries, and tickets to weekly iPad2 drawings.  Cash PerSuit begins on May 02, 2011 and has three promotional features.  Each week of the promotion there is a bonus to be earned based on how many Poker Points you earn and how many days you earn each level.

Earn 10 Poker Points per day on 4 days and get a $15 Bonus

Earn 10 Poker Points per day on all 7 days and get a $20 Bonus

Earn 25 Poker Points per day for 4 days and get a $25 Bonus

Earn 25 Poker Points per day for all 7 days and get a $30 Bonus

May 2nd-May 8th is Diamond Week; May 9th-May 15th is Club Week; May 16th-May 22nd is Hearts Week; and May 23rd-May29th is Spades Week.  You can earn the bonus each week, but you can only earn one of the bonuses per week.  So if you have 10pts per day for 6 days you can get the $15 Bonus, but if you get 10 Poker Points on the 7th day, you only get the $20 Bonus, not both the 4 day and the 7 day bonus.

You may think it odd that the weeks are named after the suits in the deck and may chalk it up to just Bodog wanting to use the name “PerSuit”.  There is a good reason for the name, however.  At the end of the promotion on June 4, 2011 there is a $10,000 freeroll.  The only way to get into that freeroll is to make a flush on a Texas Holdem ring game.  The flush has some stipulations.  The flush must be in the suit for that week.  Remember the weeks of the promotion are named after the suits in a deck of cards.  You only need to use one card of your hole cards to make the flush, but the hand must go to showdown for a ticket to the freeroll to be issued.  yes, a lot to remember, but it is a $10K Freeroll.

Here are the terms and conditions for the freeroll tickets:

Tournament runs on June 4th at 7:15 PM ET. When a player receives a qualifying flush, they will receive a Tournament Ticket to the $10,000 Freeroll via email by 12:00:00 PM ET the next day. Players can only receive one Tournament Ticket for the $10,000 Freeroll. To qualify for a Tournament Ticket, the flush must be the same suit as the suit of that week (ex: during Diamond Week, a player must receive a Diamond Flush for the hand to qualify), at least one hole card needs to be used, the flush must occur in a Texas Hold’em Cash Game, the hand MUST go to showdown and the hand does not have to be the winning hand. The Tournament Ticket is non-transferrable and can only be used on the $10,000 Freeroll.

Finally, on to the coveted iPad2.  The iPads will be awarded in drawings each week of the promotion.  To get a ticket to the iPad2 drawing, a player needs to earn 10 Poker Points per day for 4 days of the week.

Diamond Week May 2-8, 2011 One iPad2 will be awarded

Club Week May 9-15, 2011 Two iPad2 will be awarded

Hearts Week May 16-22, 2011 Three iPad2 will be awarded

Spades Week May 23-29, 2011 Four iPad2 will be awarded

iPad2 Terms and Conditions:

For the purposes of this promotion, a day is from 12:00:00 AM ET until 11:59:59 PM ET. Every Monday of the promotion, names will be drawn for an iPad 2. To be eligible for the weekly draw, players must earn at least 10 Poker Points per day for 4 days of the week. Draw winners will be notified via phone within 24-48 hours of the draw being held. Draw winners will have a choice to receive either a Bodog branded iPad 2 or a $250 bonus. If chosen, the $250 bonus will have standard rollover: 3x Sports / 20x Casino / 3 Points per dollar.

Take heed.  This promotion is not automatic.  You must OPT-IN to participate in the promotion. To opt into the promotion, simply go to the Bodog Poker home page and click the Cash PerSuit banner located down the left side menu bar.  Enter your Bodog information and you will be signed up for the Cash PerSuit promotion.

Online Poker Sites for US Players

Last Updated on

The online poker industry may have been turned upside down, but there are still many options for USA players to get on the table action that only a game of online poker can provide. There are many alternatives to the poker rooms which were seized by the US government, and this is only a piece of the online poker action. Players are understandably unsure about placing their trust and money into yet another site, in case something may happen in the future. It seems like Black Friday isn’t going to have an effect on other online poker rooms, not the smaller fish anyway.

The Poker Networks and Poker Sites listed below have been slowly increasing their poker tournament guarantees. Over the last week they have experienced up to 400% growth in traffic. It’s only a matter of time before one or two of them become the preferred online poker sites in the U.S..

Click Here for a List of Online Poker Sites Accepting Players from the USA

Bodog Poker is one of the oldest and most respected names in online gaming. Their sportsbook business insures a steady flow of loose players at the poker tables. Bodog offers some of the highest GTD tournaments available to players from the US. The initial deposit bonus of 110% up to $1,100 is as good as it gets for online poker sites. No bonus code is needed to get this great bonus.

Merge Gaming Network, the network behind poker rooms like Lock Poker, Players Only Poker and Carbon Poker, are still ready and willing to give USA players all the action they crave in an online poker setting. The tournaments, the features and the excitement are comparable to the others that were seized, without the big brand name. There are many reasons players should choose Merge for their new online poker playing needs, and there are many ongoing promotions to welcome new players, so everybody wins. The traffic to these rooms are building up, understandably so, and soon there will be even more players that will add to the entertainment value that only online poker can bring.

Other networks like Cake Poker, Everleaf and other smaller platforms are also bringing players unique and generous promotions, tournaments, ring-games and impressive prize pools. They are currently open to new USA registrations, and players coming from other poker rooms will be treated like VIPs.

Players should remember, just because the government cracked down on these poker rooms and seized domains, does that in anyway mean that it’s illegal to play poker online, even from the United States. The UIGEA isn’t there to punish players for playing a few hands of Holdem; the law is in place and only is enforced against online gaming operators and processors. In fact, not one arrest has ever been made for a player playing online poker. This is just a misconception and players should not let it hinder their game play, until there is an actual law in place.

Hopefully in the near future, we as players will not have to worry about the Department of Justice breathing down our necks every time we want to go all in. That is just the way it is right now, and we all hope that it’s only temporary. While they do have control over domain seizures and indictments, they have no control over our decisions, and if you enjoy the game of online poker and you live in the USA, it’s imperative for players to know they still have options.

Black Friday Online Poker Traffic Report

Last Updated on

As you know on April 15, 2011 “Black Friday” Pokerstars, Full Tilt Poker, Absolute Poker and UB were indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice and therefore left the U.S. market. The traffic stats below show the affect this has had on online poker sites throughout the world.

The big winners so far seem to be the sites that operate on the Merge Poker Network and Bodog Poker which are up 36% in online traffic and Party Poker whose seeing it’s European traffic up 10%. European sites seeing increased traffic is no shocker. Would you feel safe having your money on a poker site that has been accused of bank fraud, money laundering and tax evasion?
