» New Player Guide |
This article is for players that are brand new to online poker.
You have seen poker played on tv, and see all that money being won
Maybe there is a new casino built in your backyard
now you want a taste of that action?
Let me tell you the goods about poker in general first.
Most of the players that play poker, are losing money, it is actually rare to find a hand full of winning players at a table, even less will admit to it too.
So where did they go wrong? It usually starts before they even downloaded a poker client.
Most players do not learn the entire game, yet still willing to deposit a few hundred into a site. It is not hard to find these players either, most of them can be easily spotted in a glance over a large poker site.

"I didn't know aces could be played as low"
"I thought two pair beats a three of a kind"
"a flush beats a straight?"
First you must learn the fundamentals of the game. Know what beats what. Know what is a good starting hand. Know why it sometimes the right play to fold......... even pocket Aces lose.
There is much more to playing online then just knowing/learning the game.
Finding the poker site that fits YOU should be your objective when looking for a poker client. Your goal is to prosper and make money, so you should look at it as a business, and your the employer and employee.
Investment of your money and time should be well planned and thought of.
So what are you looking for in a poker client?
* Security
* Reliable Customer Support
* Clear able Deposit bonus
* Good Promo's
* Strong Player Base
Don't be afraid to email a poker site or us before downloading it.
Ask them questions if you have any. Ask anyone, anywhere about the site.
The more you know, the more you know.
So it has taken a day later, you asked around and finally downloaded a poker client. What should you do now? Go hit the play money table. Test out the site first, get use to it. Learn how the navigation works (user interface) Play around with the options to see what does what.
What is the worst that can happen so far? you have to re install the program?
I'd say that is better then losing money because
ex: you didn't click to sit out while you went to answer the door.
Educate yourself not only on YOUR game, but your poker client too. Know if there has been issues with a site that have been commented on around the internet. Go back to your favorite poker forum and look for new posts, and if there is rumors and there are no posts? ASK !! Don't be afraid to ask questions.
