Event #34 of the 2010 World Series of Poker is the Seniors Championship. This $1,000 buyin event is open to those 50 years and older. The Seniors Championship once again saw an increase in numbers and became the largest starting field ever for a single day at the World Series of Poker. The 3,142 starting players get to vie for a $2,827,800 prizepool. The top 324 players will bank at least $1,894 while the winner can look forward to $487,994 for their retirement fund.
With only a 3,000 chip stack to start the day, even these conservative players have been whittled down to 450 remaining after the first day of action. Tom Schneider leads this field with 94,000 chips.
Doyles Room Professional player Hoyt Corkins sits at 66th on the leaderboard. TJ Cloutier can stay away from the craps table for a while today with his 8,500 chips left as well.
