Event #31 of the 2010 World Series of Poker is a H.O.R.S.E. event. For those of you unclear, HORSE is five different games, usually all played with a betting limit. the five games are:
Texas Holdem, Omaha Hi-Lo, Razz poker, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo. HORSE used to be the real test of the all around poker player until 8-game mix started gaining in popularity. But this is HORSE. The $1,500 buyin of this event makes the former game of the pros accessible to all players. Sadly, all players did not play this event. Instead 828 people tried their hand at this discipline. the field created a prizepool of $1,117,800 that will be split among the top 80 players in an increasing payout manner. The eventual winner will take home $257,134. The 80th player will settle for $2,872.
Being a limit event, donking off your chips was a tad slower and everyone valiantly tried to throw away their stacks. Though they are still playing Day 1 at this writing, Maria Ho managed to wind up near the top of the chip counts with 38,000 chips and 6th on the board. Tom "durrrr" Dwan sits in 11th. As a matter of fact, while I was writing this article, eight more people busted out of the event. Currently 280 remain playing, but I am sure as soon as I finish this sentence, that will no longer be accurate.
