2010 WSOP Event #16 info

Event #16 of the 2010 World Series of Poker is a 6-handed No Limit Holdem event. this $1,500 buyin event saw 1,663 players enter. The prize pool of $2,245,050 will be spread over 162 players. The lowest casher will receive $2,828 while the winner will bank $482,774. Of course there is some jewelry involved as well.

The spewy, aggressive style continues at the WSOP as only 146 will come back to play on day 2. Maybe it is my old age and the onset of memory failure but I thought that most WSOP events had to make it well into day 2 before bursting the money bubble. I guess they could have changed the blinds to make aggressive play more necessary, but I have not heard anything on this subject as yet.

I'll echo your thoughts a bit here LK. Unless I am mistaken, they still are running 3x buyin chip stacks (i.e. 4,500 chips for a $1500 buyin), something they haven't been doing for very long, and have tried to make events run a bit deeper. I haven't looked too closely at the structure, but I think it does come down to the players. Granted, it doesn't help that you have the pros used to the 5k-10k buyins talking about how fast these play, telling people to play ultra aggressive, simply because they are used to slower tournaments. I believe that a lot of seat winners and young players hear that they have to play fast and loose in these events, simply because of the comparisons they hear to the bigger events.
