In all my days watching sports, I never saw an athlete make greater mistakes than Roger Clemens has ever since the Mitchell report on performance enhancing drugs was issued. Roger has told us that Mcnamee injected his wife Debbie with Human Growth Hormone in their marital bedroom. Roger's best buddy Andy Pettitte admitted to using these drugs, also a confidante and client of Mcnamee's. Same story with Chuck Knoblauch. Clemens was responsible for bringing McNamee from Toronto Blue Jays to New York Yankees.
Clemens stormed Capitol Hill and lobbied every Congressman who he was to appear before. But he at the hearing made an absolute fool of himself. Not only did Roger cut off the chairman Henry Waxman, but his actions were not consistent with a man at peace with himself.
Why didnt these lawyers he has knock some sense into him or were they only concerned about getting the big pay day and being yes men to Clemens. Both Ranking chairmen of the committee for both parties requested the Department of Justice to investigate Clemens. We then keep finding more including that Clemens was unfaithful to his wife.
Roger Clemens is a fool who just had to admit to the truth and people would have forgiven him. But he couldn't stand the idea of an asterisk or that his records have some tarnish on them, so he proceeded to perjure himself in a campaign that has been utterly ridiculous.
I do think he will be indicted by the United States Dep't of Justice. To prosecute Barry Bonds and then to decline to indict Clemens after his antics would appear enormously unfair.
