| Right now I'm rereading Slanksys theory of poker, Phil Gordons black book and Read em Reap by Joe Navarro with Phil Hellmuth. I've totally give up on killer poker by numbers as its too math intensive.

| I think I figured out my problem, I keep reading that I should not be emotionally attached to my money once I sit down. Ok, sit down with $200 and consider it gone. I think I have that part down. Time to start working on the other stuff.

| Fonzi, would you mind expounding upon seeing 30-35% of the flops? i am curious about the theory/strategy/application of using wider (and more risky) starting hands. you indicate that this may be contributing to your recent struggles.....what do you feel you need to adjust to get back on the winning track? thanks for the feedback. |

| When I play live I tend to play very tight aggressive 15-20% of the flops. I find that this is a good strategy to get me into the money, but it also keeps me from amassing a big chip stack. When I play online I try to open it up a little more and play more aggressive. usually around 30-35% of the flops. I don't think it's the % that's hurting me. What is hurting me is playing loose at the wrong time. My reads which were once great have been really bad lately. Mix bad reads with untimely aggression and you have a deadly mix. So I've been trying for the time being to tighten up my play and things have slowly improved. Two other things that I've been lacking is patience and desire. I find that at some point in every game I've played recently that I've lost the desire to be playing (both live and online). I'm really not sure how I can get that back though.

| I should also mention that in live games the chip stack is usually larger, WSOP and WPT events are usually 20k in starting chips as opposed to 1500-2500 for most online tournaments, so I have to open it up earlier than I would like just to survive. If all tournaments online started with 10k in chips, my flop % would be around 20%

| Yes, i like playing the super stack tournies on bodog. and reads are trickier on-line, i find. the lose of desire to play, that's important.....sounds like burn-out. things to try would be a week or two vacation without ANY poker, switch to a game you are not as familiar with (to recharge your intellectual curiosity), or pick up a new intensive exercise routine (to recharge your physical, as well as hormonal/endocrine, system). hope this resolves smoothly for you. |
