Carbon Poker allows Australian Players

Carbon Poker
, the flagship of the Merge Gaming Network now allows Austalian players on their servers. The Merge Network was based in Australia to some extent previously and certain rules locally (that I am not entirely familiar with) forbade them from accepting customers from Down Under.

No lengthy explanation was readily available from Carbon Poker, but this is what they had to say on Facebook: "Happy to announce that we are now accepting all our Australian friends as real money players with CarbonPoker. Exciting news to help grow Carbon!" So if you are Australian, welcome to the Merge Network and see you at the tables.

Yea, begs the question of how this could have been ILLEGAL in the past, and now suddenly OK, with no seeming change in law! :)

I am sure it is still illegal in Oz, the difference would lie in the fact that either the servers and/or ownership assets have probably been moved offshore.

Bodog used to deny Canadians simply because the owner was Canadian and he was worried any legal actions against him could result in the confiscation of his assets within the country. Once Bodog was sold to offshore assets that fear was no longer an issue and Bodog opened its doors to Canadians.

Using the power of deductive reasoning, and the similarity of Ozzy and Canadian law, and based on absolutely not a shred of information about Merge, I postulate that their situation is similar to bododgs.
