And so it begins

Hold on to your hats. Make sure to brace yourselves. I actually did some work at my "real" job today. My brother makes signs, I install road signs on the contracts he wins. Yeah stop signs, yields, speed limit, all the way up to the big green ones that would tell you where to go if anyone actually bothered to read the things. We aren't too automated. Pounding a sign post in is done by brute force still (some day we will get the pneumatic pounder).

Anywho, its a physically brutal job, but not a daily job, and he pays me well because I am a brute, and have high tolerance for pain. We had to put in a whole seven signs today (a long, brutal day is about 30). Piece of cake...except that it was raining and 46 degrees. Ah well, just good misery training for the 100 degree days, and my favorite, the 20 degree days, chipping through the frost, and wading into the snowbanks.

The real busy time is November and December, when every contractor needs it done last month but forgot to call. Other than that...any heatwave is their favorite time to need their signs done immediately.

Well, for now back to Donkeytown (sing it like the song Funkytown "wont you take me to....donkeytown")

it seems like a nice job... i used to work at a bar but the pay sucks! so now im working at teletech with the sprint company.. from 3pm to 12 am.. and sometimes it can be so frustrating and boring.. but they pay is better.. 3.5 bucks per hour.. its sad to say that 3.5 bucks is well paid cause i know that in usa the minimum salary its like 7 or 8 bucks per hour.. here in mexico the minimum is .60 dlls.. anyway its just a temporary job in august im going to start studying financial administration.

Think of cost of living in US Blinkin. I live in a relatively low cost area, and that $7 an hr would not get you above the poverty level, even if you were on your own. That 3.5 there is probably comparable to $12 here because of costs

After the construction companies finally stop work and stop calling us, That is all I do, until they can get a new construction project finished. If you are wise, you call for sign installation last so that your heavy equipment doesn't destroy them.

I figure with the hefty winter we had, I have another month of poker. Then there is the dead spot in September when the contractors like to forget they need signs to complete the job. Its ok, they remember as soon as snow flies or the ground freezes.
