I am headed out of Vegas at 3:30 pm local time (6:30pm et). I had a good time. I met a lot of pros that I did not know thanks to Fonzi. I played poorly in Event 51 and Event 54 of the WSOP. My play got better as the rest of the trip went on. Sadly, that did not translate to any cashes at the tables.
This WSOP trip has quadrupled my live poker experience. Live is different compared to internet poker only if you let it be. Your strategy, whatever it is, can work live as well as on the internet. The question you need to ask of yourself is "Do I play differently because it is Live?".
Early on, I did play different, and losing poker. As the trip progressed, I played as me. Some bad beats and bad luck kept me from doing well, but variance can get anyone on such a small sample.
Las Vegas obviously wanted to suck me in. I had lost at poker all trip and last night was no different. QT>KJ to take me out. While waiting around as Audra got tantalizingly close to cashing, I played $10 in a 25 cent slot machine. I won $205. Just Vegas' way of saying "Thanks for the $4,000. Here is cab fare kid".
I would like to thank my personal party planner for all the fun events at this year's WSOP. Great meeting you all, and that comes from a confirmed misanthrope, so thats quite a statement.
Checkout at the Gold Coast Casino (yeah, like the 4th mention of you guys. What about some comps!)at noon. Three hours to kill at the airport, but thats the price I pay for a direct flight. I could have left earlier and cooled my heals at another airport for two hours and gotten home an hour earlier if the flight didn't get delayed or the connector didn't get cancelled or any of the other things I could have opened myself to with connecting flights.
I will be stowing the laptop soon, so you folks behave as I cross the country.
