| My Vegas Trip
Well, I finally decided to dig my laptop out and tell you all about my Vegas trip thus far.
Tonight, made my first trip to Las Vegas Blvd, or "The Strip". Everywhere you look, casinos. I felt at home. Add to that all the beautiful women (and, unfortunately, those not so blessed that thought themselves though) and I considered searching for an apartment in the area. Saw some really cool fireworks, and checked out all of the casinos. The Bellagio poker room...WOW. I cannot wait to have a bankroll to play there.
Last night, went to Fremont St, in downtown Vegas. It was just one big party, bands, girls, and booze everywhere. What a time. Of course, casinos everywhere. Checked them out (Golden Nugget, 4 Queens, Binions) and loved the classy feel of them. Not somewhere I would play or endorse, but somewhere you have to check out if you go to Vegas. And the overhead show was amazing.
Also, yesterday, slid over to the Rio to check out the Rio. As soon as I got into the atrium entering the WSOP area, nearly got ran over by Doyle running a bit late to his seat after the break. Kind of a neat experience. Saw Annie Duke, Todd Brunson, and John Hennigan all standing around chatting right as I walked in. Kind of neat to see them in their normal environment.
Played some Bingo with Fonzi last night. By that, I mean, I sat back, drank a beer, and laughed with him at how little we knew about the game. I think the old ladies of the place (I felt like I was in Catholic school) were considering kicking our asses at the noise we were making.
Other than that, Ive been playing poker, and drinking. Basically, what a college kid in Vegas is supposed to do. Played 1 tournament, the $45 here at the Gold Coast. Went out in level 5, ran into aces. Not a fan of the structure, but its a $45 buyin, so I can't expect much.
I have been spending a lot of time at the cash games, 1/2 NL. To my surprise, Ive recorded only 1 losing session, my first, in which I lost $80. Overall, at the table, I rate myself as up around $1000 (though that includes a $300 jackpot I hit yesterday with quad eights). The players here are not that great, but are a lot of fun to play with.
As for the hotel, there are some problems with it, but I have been treated very well the whole time. Barring some major comps or such, I will probably be staying here next year. The rooms are rather nice, and cheap. The tables are soft, and the restaurants are pretty good. The Rio and Palms is in walking distance, and the Strip is a $10 cab ride (or a shuttle, if you like waiting, for free) away.
Welp, Im off to play a bit online (it seems boring after spending a 7 hour session at the tables today) and go to bed. Think I am going to lock in a 12 hour session at the tables tomorrow.
Hope everyone is doing well at the tables!
