My OFC Live Plan

I am beginning my preparations for my Las Vegas trip. Some of the preparations I began long ago. Specifically withdrawing a couple grand from sites, making reservations and booking flights. These things are done and done.

I fly out of here at 7 am June 24, 2010. My plane lands at 9:50 am Las Vegas time. As long as I can get to the Golden Nugget Casino before noon, I can get registered for either the NLHE or the HORSE tournament of the Grand Poker Series. I know what you seasoned travelers are thinking, "but you can't check in that early". You would be correct. I have already checked with the helpful people at the Golden Nugget and they assure me that if my room is not ready early, I can stow my luggage at the Bell Desk area while i play poker. I know this story might make me look like a degenerate, but I consider myself a poker devotee.

The OFC Live event is June 27-29 with the poker games being on the 28-29th. Until then I plan to play at least the Grand Poker Series games each day. I am leaning toward the NLHE on the 24th. The 25th I am almost certainly playing the 7 stud h/l event. On June 26th I am Surely playing the omaha h/l event. June 27th I will probably try to be helpful with the OFC Live preparations unless i can worm my way out of it and play another Grand Poker Series event.

The 28th and 29th I might play one of their small, fast tourneys before the OFC events or cash games if bored, but nothing big. June 30th I check out of the Golden Nugget. Targetguy is trying to con me into sticking around for the Grand Poker Series game that day. It is not totally impossible, but if I do not, I am off to the Gold Coast Casino and Hotel.

I love the Golden Nugget, but WHEN I win one of those WSOP Event #54 entry that Feltstars is providing in the OFC Live, I will need to be close to the Rio and the Gold Coast is next door. I stayed at the Gold Coast last year and a couple things made me go back. They have a free shuttle to the Orleans and to the Strip. The Orleans has cheap simple food and a big poker room with two tournaments daily. There is a chance that I play a couple Venetian Deep Stack tourneys and thats an easy walk from where the free shuttle from Gold Coast drops you off. Of course all these contingencies are just in case I don't final table event 54, or even more remote, that I don't win an entry to it. I won't play 54 without an entry. I would rather try 2-3 Venetian games.

I fly out of Las Vegas July 6, 2010. That date covers all possibilities except running like God and making enough to play in the Main Event. If that occurs, then the least of my worries is a room and changing flights. July 6 lets me play till I win event 54, or alternatively thats about when I would run out of money if I failed miserably all 11 days at poker. I don't drink or smoke (anything), so my main focus will be poker.

Well, you sure do have it down pat. May the Poker Gods be with you.
I will be driving in and plan to arrive on Saturday the 26. I have several girlfriends there and will be able to save on room rates.lol
Stations is my friends hang-out as well as SouthPoint so for sure I'll be spotted there.
Being retired and from Calif. I'm not rushed on time so will just see whats going to happend and play it by ear.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone as we have already shared tables.
It will be fun to try and match the tells in a live game and much more of a challange.

I probably should have made an official post on this sooner. Some of you already know some of the details. I did not go to Las Vegas this year. My grandmother fell ill and passed away the same day I was to fly out. The day before, I had cancelled my plans. There is always next year for me.

Yes I was sorry to hear about your Grandmother. I know how special Grandma's can be...mine was my world. I will be thinking of you in this time of grief.

Ohhh, Lkport, I kept looking for you at the game...I had no idea about your grandmother. I am really sorry about your loss. Your gram lives on in everything she taught you, from being a good neighbor, a good keeper of confidances, to being a helpful grandson. She knows how much she meant to you. Think about her always.
