Poker Strategy Develop your winning poker strategy : 1) Don't be afraid to fold a hand. Many inexperienced poker players never play long because they think they need to play every hand to be a winner. The you have got to be in it to win it strategy. In poker this is not a winning strategy. I would suggest that you don't "chase" cards and hope that future cards will improve your situation if you have nothing. Fold as often as needed and live to play another hand. 2) Do not accept those alcohol beverages the house so freely offers you! Alcohol will just make you more bold and sloppy as a player. 3) Have a good poker face. Your opponents are going to be reading your face and body language. Many poker players show their opponents what they have in their hand by unknowingly displaying their poker hand on their face. So try to be consistent with your expressions regardless what type of hand you have been dealt. 4) In most poker rooms, you won't gain fortunes, so please stay within your limits. Bet with your head and control the betting as much as you can.

I think the general consensus with rebuy tournies is you need to have the capacity and willingness to rebuy a fair few times as otherwise you put yourself at a huge disadvantage. This particularly holds true when you can rebuy after you have lost your 1st chip. If you don't you are the small stack after a few minutes of the game. I don't like rebuys myself as when you play a $10 MTT for example, you are really playing a $40+ MTT if you are serious about winning. On top of this, they go on for too long for my liking. I do however dabble in cheap rebuy tourneis just for the fun to see how far I can get on my initial chips. If you do well, then the add-on is essential. I played a $10 MTT with 1 rebuy allowed and one addon at the 1st break recently. I didn't realise you could add-on actually, shoudl have read the details... WHen we got to the break after an hour, I was positioned 30th out of a remaining 97 players. I didn't feel like it was worth another $10 as I wasn't happy with my low position and it would have just put me in the same position (as everyone else bought the add-on) for more money. So I didn't add-on on this occasion. I just didn't feel positive and could not face another 3 or 4 hours :-) - I went out soon after overplaying two pair (against trips).

lately i don't think that my strategy in poker tournaments are working very well. when the tourney starts i like to play really tight and try not to make any big mistakes. then when the blinds get bigger i usually start to get more aggressive then when it gets to the bubble i try to be super aggressive cause people usually fold not wanting to bubble. then after the bubble i play tight aggressive and start using position heavily. ![]()
