Morality or Outright Cash Grab? Sunday, the day for relaxing and retrospection. As I read the news and such a few things strike me as incongruous. Lets set the stage for these bold speculations and outright opinions.
June 2nd The US Attorney's office for Southern New York seizes $30 million from a payment processor, Account Services. The money was in at least 3 banks, and they only had a warrant for one, but bullied the other two banks with threats. Tactics they must have learned from organized crime.
Once upon a time, this district actually tried to bring organized crime figures to justice, not make Justice the organized criminals. Account Services only serviced FullTilt Poker and
Pokerstars, the two biggest
Online Poker Sites. Now, everyone and their online brother is filing suit to get the money un-seized because it is such a blatant power grab with no legal backing.
This is all news you can read elsewhere, and more in depth. I am here to ask the question no one seems to be bringing up. What exactly is the payoff for the US Attorney's office in S. NY? If you think they are doing these clearly illegal actions because of some high moral sense, then I have a bridge to sell you near their offices.
They want to play hardball with online poker? Ok then. I call on the US Congress to launch an investigation of this US Attorney office. Who is getting paid off by whom, what is their real interest, and why are Bush era stooges still in power there? The FBI can take down a huge corruption ring in New Jersey, lets send them just a little north. There has to be a money trail. Someone has to be dirty. I would look into any ties to the NFL first. their head office is in NY City. I bet there is some wink-nod deal going there.
Big business buying our public officials has got to end. The people and their appointed representatives need to act to protect the principles this nation was founded on before there is no nation left to protect.
