Main Event Bubble!

Main Event Bubble!

Two players were eliminated during the last hand, and we are now squarely on the money bubble. The number of players remaining sits at 649.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen. The 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event has now reached the money! All players that remain in the tournament will make at least $21,000!

Leading the way is Bertrand 'Elky' Grospelier (who was my prediction to win this in a conversation with our fearless leader while in Vegas), followed closely by Ludovic Lacay. Both are above 1.5 million in chips.

Phil Ivey is still in the tournament though, and a force to be reckoned with. His chip stack, 750,000, leaves him in the top 20 in chips, with more than enough ammo to make a real stand. Previous Main Event winners Peter Eastgate, Joe Hachem, Chris Ferguson, and Dan Harrington remain in the tournament, vying to be the next two time main event winners.

There is still a lot of play left, so stay tuned for developments. We at HPC are watching closely to see what happens!

As fonzi has mentioned, Picking Ivey as Main Event Winner, I believe the deeper he goes into the tournament the harder it is going to be for everyone else. He just puts that fear in an opponent like TJ and Doyle use to have but a different style of it.
