With so many of us heading to the WSOP in a couple of weeks it's time to start thinking about what you need to bring. Las Vegas temperatures in the summer are brutally hot and dry with temps reaching 130 at times.
Having been out there the last 3 years, here's my list of essentials.
Money and lots of it.
On the way from the airport, ask your cab driver to stop at a convenience store and pick up a 24 pack of bottled water. Hotels usually charge about $3 a bottle and you'll constantly be thirsty, so make sure you pick up water. You'll also need some chap stick because your lips will dry out and some lubricating eye drops for dry eyes. The hot dry air will hit you the second you walk out of the airport and it doesn't matter if it's day or night.
Clothing:
Pack shorts and t-shirts, but also keep in mind that all the casinos are air conditioned and most poker rooms, especially the Amazon room at the Rio get very cold, so bring a sweater when you head out to play. If you plan on attending a party or 2, make sure to bring some light slacks and a nice short sleeve dress shirts. And don't forget your bathing suit and SPF 30.
Some other things will need include, money, credit cards, a passport if you're not from the US. If you are from the US, you'll need government issued ID, you can't play with having an ID. Bring along a camera, you'll want to take some pictures of me at the Final Table, lol.
"Americans have played poker throughout history. Playing poker on the internet is simply an example of an American tradition evolving into the 21st century. It is unfathomable that poker, an American pastime and game of skill, should be banned for the millions who enjoy playing responsibly."
