Phil Ivey finally wins a WPT title

The L.A Poker Classic final table at the Commerce Casino was possibly the most exciting final table in a WPT event. With two of the world's most dominating players Phil Ivey and Phil Hellmuth sitting 1 and 3 in chip stacks at play began. Here's how the chip stacks looked at the start of the day:

Seat 1: Quinn Do - 1,450,000
Seat 2: Nam Le - 1,180,000
Seat 3: Phil Hellmuth - 2,380,000
Seat 4: Phil Ivey - 4,100,000
Seat 5: Charles Moore - 1,510,000
Seat 6: Scott Montgomery - 2,680,000

The action began on the very first hand as Charles Moore pushed allin with his AK against Phil Ivey. Ivey made the call with A9 and lost the hand and lost his commanding chip lead. A short time later Phil Hellmuth got into it with Nam Le. Le took down a monster pot and left Hellmuth crippled. Phil Hellmuth was elimated a short time later in 6th place.

Phil Ivey then began to dominate at his record eighth WPT final table. On the final hand of the night, Ivey had a 5-1 chip lead the board came up As 8s 6s. At this point there was close to 3 million in the pot. The turn card was Ac and Ivey moved allin with Ah 8d, After a few minutes of thought, Quinn Do called with 9h 8h, the river brought a 4c and Phil Ivey won his first WPT title and the $1,596,100 first-place prize with the dead man's hand.

Congrats Phil
