In an unsurprising move, Liv Boeree has joined Team
PokerStars. Formerly a sponsored pro of UB, Ms. Boeree was spotted at this year's World Series of Poker without any sponsorship. A quick check at that time found all mention of her removed from the UB site.
Speculation at the time centered on
Pokerstars but it took a couple of months for the rumors to become reality.
Liv Boeree is one of the more attractive poker professionals and hence has garnered a lot of attention. She started out as a reality show contestant on a British poker reality show. From there she learned the game and continued to improve. The
Pokerstars writing seemed to be on the wall when she won the
Pokerstars sponsored and fabricated EPT San Remo event this spring.
Following her San Remo triumph, Liv was splashed all over every web page and industry publication. Her victory was one of the events that had people proclaiming "The Year of the Woman" in poker. A quiet World Series of Poker for woman participants soon silenced that fanfare. However, a good showing by British players at the WSOP soon had the media switching to the "Year of the Brit". Liv Boeree got more publicity for her San Remo win as scribes tried to craft a British poker invasion out of 57 tournaments over a couple months in Vegas.
Liv Boeree will be wearing her
Pokerstars colors starting at the European Poker Tour London that is running at the time of this posting.
