Online Poker Sites victims of Denial of Service Attacks

Distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS) have wreaked havoc with online gaming sites over the last week. Full Tilt Poker, Titan Poker, Virgin Games and a few others sites have been experiencing major connection problems. In total there have been more than 30 websites attacked over the last week. Full Tilt Poker and some Russian gambling sites have been hit the hardest.

Most of the information is coming from articles written by shadowserver.org, a non profit volunteer group that monitors Internet security issues. Without getting too technical, they pretty much confirmed that these website were under attack.

There has been no official response from Full Tilt or any other online gaming site, but the problems as of this writing still continued. There is also no motive for these attacks.

We'll keep you posted on this story should anything develop.

they are safe, but the DDoS attacks are causing connection issues, they haven't been hacked.

A DDos is like a connection overflow. Using computers which are infected with viruses the guy makes millions of connections to the site. Some of these socalled botnets can have a size of like 100.000 computers (so get a firewall and a virusscanner!!).
By flooding a site with all those bs connections means that also no legit connections can be made anymore.
A DDos attack doesnt harm the content of a site, only the access to it!
