Bugsy's Club online poker room has closed its doors.

But there was some good news in the good-bye note on their website today:

"Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control with regards to banking facilities, it is with regret that we have to announce it is no longer viable for the Bugsy's Club Poker Room to continue our business operations. However, we are delighted to inform you that Bugsy's Club have reached an agreement with the world's largest online poker site, Pokerstars.com, to allow all Bugsy's Club players to transfer your account balance over to their site.

"Through the agreement we have reached with Pokerstars, your player balances will be transferred to them. Before this happens, you will receive an email from Pokerstars in the next few days confirming the full details of how to complete the transfer of your balance on to their site. Regrettably, your Bugsy's Bonus Points (BBPs) are not able to be transferred from the Bugsy's Club Poker Room.

"While this transitional period occurs, you will still be able to contact Pokerstars support with any questions you may have with regard to this procedure. We will update this page with more details of the support email address and the Pokerstars webpage URL where you will be able to make the transfer of your balance later today (24th March)

No advance warning, no notices...Which brings me to one of my pet peeves, never leave much money in online poker rooms.....
This makes a total of over $500 I have lost money to poker sites closing doors without warning....so I will let you all know if my money is transferred to Poker Stars.

I received the closing e-mail today. In it there is a link to the Pokerstars transfer page. You will need to know your Bugsy's club username and password, also your Pokerstars username. The "forgot password" link at bugsy's still seems to work, at least the page comes up to put your e-mail in, in case some have forgotten their password.

Thats it, 10 seconds, the information is submitted, and can take up to 5 days to process. You will get a confirmation e-mail from Pokerstars when the transfer is complete.

well, I have to give them props. They couldn't continue in business. How many other sites just shafted the players? These guys at least tried to do the right thing...of course, notice there is no cash out option, just the Pokerstars transfer, so they probably had a serious cash flow issue, and would have had to stiff players if they didn't get a deal done with someone.

Whoever owns Bugsy's, good job in being a respectable business person under trying circumstances, and thanks Pokerstars for stepping in.

It isnt that easy tho. If you want to cashout the funds Bugsy transferred to Pokerstars you will have to clear it first. You have to earn 5 VPP for every $1, and you have until May 2010 to do so. So if you had $100 on Bugsy you will have to play on Pokerstars first until you have 500 VPP before you can cash it out!

There is some speculation about Bugsyclub actually not being able to cover all the funds so Pokerstars has to force the Bugsyplayers to pay some rake on their site.
