David "Chip" Reese Dead at 56

The man that most of the poker world considered the world's great cash game player died of pneumonia symptoms while in his sleep on Monday night.

Reese's most notable triumph in the eyes of the poker community was his win in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2006 World Series of Poker, where he and Andy Bloch went head to head in an epic 7 hour battle. The final table has been called the greatest ever with the likes of Phil Ivey and Doyle Brunson also making the final.

"I have lost one of my oldest and dearest friends today," Brunson said. "He was one of the most unique individuals I have ever known, and poker has lost one of the greats today."

He is survived by his son Casey, 18, his daughter Taylor, 16, and his step-daughter Britney.

I am glad his family was with him when he won that horse game. Reece stated in an interview that he enjoyed watching his son cheer him on that day then the winning itself

Such a shame. I think when he was younger, he was going to attend standford but some how went to vegas for a little bit, with only 400 bucks in his pocket and ended up winning a tournament that week and came up huge. He never made it to standford! How bout that!
