It seems as though everyone on the internet is reporting that David Williams, formerly one of the faces of
Bodog Poker has signed with
Pokerstars. Even his management agency, Poker Royalty, will confirm that it is true. Right now, however, he is not listed anywhere on the
Pokerstars "Team
Pokerstars" portion of their website. The number of outlets saying it and the people confirming it pushed me to write about it. Still, I feel a bit uncomfortable about the story as he is not on the website and you cannot get any details from
Pokerstars on the move. The biggest questions i have revolve around what his deal entails. Is this just a one off WSOP deal or is it more permanent and will continue to other events worldwide? No one at
Pokerstars is making any official statements. Word is that he will be introduced at the
Pokerstars WSOP party before the main event, but that too is unconfirmed by
Pokerstars.
David Williams recently
won the WPT World Championship while flying the
Bodog Colors. Directly after that big win, it seemed as though
Bodog dropped him in favor of an attractive female online player. With this new information one has to speculate as to whether the
Pokerstars deal was already in the works and David was lining it up when he left
Bodog poker.
Perhaps the truth will surface in time. The murkiness of these waters may be due in part to everyone having a lot on their plates during the World Series of Poker. For example,
Pokerstars has a party to plan, online qualifiers to shepherd around and the Nevada Gaming Commission to avoid. David Williams is probably busy chasing bracelets. factors such as these might easily be the only reason for a delay getting Mr. Williams safely settled in at the Team
Pokerstars part of the website.
