John Juanda was looking for his second victory in British territory (after winning the WSOPE last weekend) but left disappointed when he lost heads-up against Jason Mercier.
The EPT Special Event "£1 Million Showdown" was attended by 86 players who payed a buy-in of £20,000 each. At day 2 only 14 players were still standing, including Scotty Nguyen, Isabelle Mercier and David Benyamine. When the time for the heads-up play came, it was Juanda as the chip leader (1,185,000 chips) against Mercier (536,000 chips).
In the final hand Mercier moved all-in with Qd Kc and Juanda called with As Jc. The flop came 10h 9s Js and Juanda got nervous

, then the turn was a 5c that decided who the next champion would be and the river was an irrelevant 3c.
With this victory, Mercier got his second EPT title along with £516,000

and Juanda did not do so bad either taking £327,000 plus a WSOPE title from last week.:o
