Borgata Poker Open

The Borgata Poker Open is set to start September 9th 2009 in Atlantic City. This World Poker Tour event has adapted to the times. What was once a $10,000 buyin Main Event is now a $3,500 Main Event with a guaranteed prize pool of $2 million.

The main event begins September 19th, but before that there are some extremely reasonable tournaments. Many of the preliminary events can be entered for as little as $400. Satellites to the Main Event are as low as $120 in some cases.

I like the combination of making the tournament more affordable and the borrowing ideas from online poker sites with the guaranteed prize pool. This shows that the Borgata at least is flexible and able to adapt to the tighter belts of their target audience. So if Atlantic City is nearby, you might want to try your hand at some low cost preliminary events or maybe take a shot at a super satellite.
