Ipods being banned at poker rooms I just read that a bunch of casinos are now banning Ipods for the poker rooms. WTF? What's next? No talking, gum chewing, eating? Sadly one of my favorite Vegas poker rooms are on the list. I guess I won't be playing there on my next trip.

They didn't give a reason. I understand why the WPT and WSOP doesn't allow them at final tables. They're being televised and they want the player interaction. But I can't understand why a casino in Illinois doesn't want players wearing headphones. It makes no sense. Poker can get quite boring at times, why not let the players entertain themselves? I've even had a guy watching a movie on an Ipod video sit at my table.

Only thing I could think of would be if the player were using it to cheat, somehow, I dont know how but suppose it is possible to have a transmitter giving information to the player. Other than that aspect, don't really see a problem with it.

In a sense I think it's so unfair, because for big tournaments, it's very useful to have your ipod because it helps you gey through stages of no hands, and keep you from playing junk, however I'm guessing the reason is that people sometimes aren't paying attention and it slows the game down for everyone at the table. gl at the tables all no1yidmax

I think no1yidmax hit it right on the mark. It is the ONLY reason I can think of. But let's face it... most of the same people who have trouble paying attention while listening to their IPod, also have problems paying attention without an IPOD. This is one of those rules that I suspect will cause the casinos more problems and complaints than the volume of complaints they were trying to silence.
