I remembered seeing your picture in the last Cardplayer so I opened it up and learned that you're not from Britain, but named Brittany. For some reason I thought you were British.

Anyway, I'm starting to see what you're trying to do. Teach from the ground level up.

i know something about counting outs.. you first need to see al possible cards you need to make your hand a more valuable hand, next you need to multiply the number of outs X 4 for the turn and X 2 for the river.. Example:

your hand 9s10s
opponent KsKh

flop 8s9hJs

at this point you need a 7,9,10,Q or any spade... so you count how many cards are still available in order to make your hand a valuable hand.. there are four 7, two 9, three 10, and four Q.. there are 13 cards plus the spades there are 7 spades left (you dont know your opponent hand so you count the k of spades) also notice there are 7 spades left cause you already count 2 spades (Qand7). So at this point there are 20 cards X 4 = 80% of chances to win the hand when the turn and the river are already deal..

turn 4h.. the turn has no value for you so know you multiply 20 X 2 = 40% of chance to win the hand on the river.

River.. 2s .. at this moment you have the nuts!

I personally have a hard time teaching someone from scratch, for some reason I always feel a person would have some knowledge.

I suppose if I was laying the foundation for a new player the first step would be to explain the cards and the hand rankings. Then explain the betting and the texture of the flop, turn and river.

Next would be explaining starting hand requirements and position which in my opinion are the most important things to learn. There are several good charts out there for this. An example is throwing away a hand like 56s UTG and raising with it on the button when everyone folds around to you. It all comes down to position.

Then move on to counting outs and pot odds.

Have I missed anything? I'm pretty sure that covers everything a new player would need to learn at a basic level. Beyond that it becomes more technical.

I've been promised an article on the 2/4 rule sometime this week. I think it would make a great tutorial for your blog.

I think playing position is always essential

I don't know if this is exactly what you want, but if it isn't let me know, I'll be more than happy to expound on it!
