Eastgate losing millions in taxes?

Peter Eastgate, the '08 Main Event champion, might end up with a lot less money for winning the Main Event than second place finisher Ivan Demidov.

The reason for this is the danish government that demands a whooping 73% of his winnings. If SKAT (the danish tax agency) win the case, Demidov will be left with more money since Russia only demands 13% of his winnings.

This does sound a bit unreal IMO, I just couldn't imagine giving away over $6.6 million dollars in taxes...

73% thats errh draconic! How does Gus Hansen deal with that hes danish also. In Norway i think we gotto pay 25-28 % on all winnings over 1500 $ in one month.
Wonder if hes tax collector would go "Im tha SKATMAN badda be da ba bop" after harwesting such a gruesome tax?

Look for Peter Eastgate to have a new home soon. There's no way his agents will allow him to pay taxes that high.

lol - pay 6.6 mil tax and go home, or stay in the US.... hmmm. I'd have no problem making that choice. (or more reasonably - Monaco)

Eastgate currently lives in England, so he won't be having this problem in the future.
