Joe Cada vs. Darvin Moon

Okay. I've overheard a few people talking about who the better player was at the WSOP final table heads-up. We all know that Joe Cada won this year leaving Darvin Moon in the shadows of second place. I've heard arguments that Cada made some donkey plays and got lucky. Then I heard someone saying that Moon gave it away with bad calls.

So I'm asking the Poker Tokers,...what do you all think?

Re: Joe Cada vs. Darvin Moon

I didn't get to watch the heads up match... However, I did get to watch some of the final table and some of it way pryor to it. Cada got dam lucky on many hands in my opinion. I too have won some games gettin very lucky... Now maybe they just showed him playing those hands more often then anybody else, I don't know, but I sure couldn't take the fact that the kid won! I felt he made some crazy bets with low pocket pairs way too often.

Thats the way poker is nowadays. People see a player like Brandon Cantu or Hevad Khan calling big bets with big rags and getting lucky and think thats the way to go.

I believe Joe Hachem made a comment of some kind recently (last 6 months or so, anyways.....thats what I recall) deriding the "new school" of poker "professionals" and how they dont know how to play POKER anymore. I read it in one of the 35000 or so poker magasines that clutter newsstands today.

I also read (in a recnt issue of Bluff, with Elky on the cover) how no one eer won the WSOP without getting insanely lucky along the way. Moneymaker's turned set of 8's vs Brenes' rockets. Chris Ferguson rivering a three outer nine to defeant TJ Cloutier in 2000. The same issue has a feature on how to "profit from pocket pairs in cash games"........maybe dat's fuel for some of the youngsters nowadays who seem more than eager to go all in with treys or nickels in or out of position.

I saw another article with a quote from Negraneu (sic, didnt google it. Going off of the grey-cell memory banks here) saying that the tourneys now are great with the big prize pools, but how tourneys have lost some prestige, calling some of them "crapshoots" for the amount of luck seemingly needed along with skill to win them.

Just my opinion. Cheers.

FTR....I dont think either Cada or Moon played particularly well.

i dont think that either of them was very impressive tbh. couple of dumasses who set poker back as much as moneymaker helped it to explode

LOL....Why don't you tell us what you really think.

I pretty much agree with all of you on this one. It pretty much came down to who was the luckiest bastard there. I was personally dissappointed that Phil Ivey didn't do better than he did.

It don't matter. It will be ME next year!! Muuaaaahhhaaaahahaha!!
