Cool The Maven Boot Camp

WOW, talk about tons of info. Good thing
Donna told me to take a notebook for notes,
took 11 pages worth. It's going to take me
weeks to study and absorb everything I wrote
down. Was absolutely worth every penny he
charges, altho I won the silent auction and
paid $230 instead of $450. David is so nice
and helpful, I can't say enough about him.
I may lose more money than I win in the next
couple months before I'm able to put the pieces
together, but we'll see what happens. I'm
looking forward to putting it into action.

So, after 7 hours of filling my head with all
this Poker Strategy, David has us play a few
hands with chips and analyze the action. Then
we play a sit-n-go. David asks if he can play
to make it 10-handed, we say sure. To cut to
the chase, I knock out "The Maven" plus 4 more,
wish there were bounties and I WIN the sng.
David said I played very well, only made one iffy
call with 6-6 and lost.

Some of us head to the poker room for the 7 pm
Poker Gives charity game. Since I won $450 in
the Pink Ladies Poker tour game Friday nite, I
felt comfortable buying in to another $110 game.
I was very tired, but also psyched after winning
the sng and taking out the teacher. Starting stack
5,000, and we start out with 3 tables, but only
20 players, they were hoping for more.

So seat 8 is playing loose, showing cards he never
should have been in the hand to begin with and
catching on the river to win. Blinds are 100/200,
he calls, I raise to 500 with A-K, folds around
to him, he calls. The board is 4-8-2. I can't
remember the action, but a K on the turn, and
we wind up all in, I have him outchipped by 2,000.
He turns over 4-4 and I lose a big hand, leaving
me short-stacked in the 3rd level.

We break our table and now we have 10 each.
I bide my time, and pick my spots. I steal
some blinds and antes to keep me going. I'm
the button, only 1850, go all in with J-5os,
"picking my spot", 200/400/50, sb folds,
bb calls with 2-2 and I spike a J to double
up. Same scenario with K-Q, 300/600/75.
Same 2 players, this time she has 9-9. I
spike a K and double up again, now I've got
close to 10,000.

I bided my time until I make final table,
9-handed. I'm bb 600/1200/200, see 10-10.
UTG+3 raises to 2400, short stack goes all-in
with 750, I flat call. Before the boot camp, I
would have shoved, I know it. The flop was 7-7-3.
I go all-in, preflop raiser folds, and I turn over my
hand. X on the turn, K on the river. Short stack
has K-10 to take the main pot, but I get the side
pot for 2700, so I made a little money. UTG+3 says
"I would have won, I had K-Q." If I would have shoved
she would have called and I would be busted. Guess
some of the previous 7 hours of training actually sunk
in.

To end this saga, I got 2nd place for $300 and a bonus
prize of 2 hours of training by Jon Friedberg. He told
me he normally charges $250 an hour, so it's like adding
$500 to my winnings. What a week.

Monday, Poker Gives charity game which I satellited into
for a 3rd place, $338. Friday's Pink Ladies Poker Tour
buy-in $105, a chop for $450. Then last nite, the
charity game buy-in $110, a 2nd place for $300/2hrs
training. I'll say it again, WHAT A WEEK!!!!!!!
