I have been playing roughly 3-4 of those $50 freerolls a week on one of the merge sites for the past 2 weeks. I have finished within the top 50 of the 1500 entrants nearly every time, I'm 6 for 8 so far. What I have yet to do is finish in the top ten, earning me a payout at least for my effort. What is stopping me is stupid lucky players. Tonight for example, I had $25k in chips, roughly an average stack with the 40 players left when I get dealt AA. The chipleader of the tournament has $85k in chips and is raising every hand like a huge donk. He had raise 5 consecutive hands before this one and for huge amounts, usually in the range of 6-8 big blinds, which by now was 400-800. I call with the aces in early position, expecting his usual raise. The three players between us fold, and he raises to $4800. I raise back to $13k, and he pushes all-in and I call. He shows Ac10c. The board comes out As-3c-5c-6c-10h. Can you really tell me that this site is not rigged? I'll play an aggressive yet careful game up to this point every time, always getting clobbered right around 30th place every SINGLE TIME. Usually I'll just be card dead and receive nothing but garbage for a good half hour before I get donked out by some idiot calling with any two cards. Yesterday I played well up to the second break, amassing a huge stack only to be dealt nothing but high lows the rest of the game for roughly the next hour and fifteen. Im starting to lose faith in my game. I don't know what to do anymore. I can't cash in any game I play it seems due to an endless see of freerolling idiots, even in the buy-in games I have been playing. What do I have to show for the last two months of patient strong poker? A couple hundred dollars down the drain and zero account balances to show for it. This is why I'm playing freerolls now to see if there is just something fundamentally wrong with my game. If I don't start seeing cash results soon I'm going to seriously reconsider trying to satellite my way into a few events next month!

Back when UB had all those freerolls every hour... i sat and played for 2 years... the best finishes i got there was 4th and 5th... and that happened last year!... after they changed their format to AP. I havent finished any better in a freeroll of that type. I have NO IDEA how folks win those!!!!!

I understand where you are coming from Big, the samething happened to me. I get dealt pocket AA and someone goes allin with A rag suited and catches the flush.
I have had a little luck thou. My best two finishes in the freerolls have been 3rd and 7th.
I was just playing a freeroll when I noticed your rant. Someone goes allin, I call his allin with KcJc, this person has Ks4s. GUESS WHAT HAPPENED?
You probably guessed correct, he catches two pair on the flop. I am down to just 140 in chips. I am moved to another table after the next hand. The next hand that I am dealt is A2 offsuit. I go allin, one guy call with J9 offsuit. He catches a Jack, BAM, I out of the tourney.
Now this all has happened on Reefer. The two times I cashed my account was empty. Right now I have some in my account.
Just an observation, or is it?

I would say don't panic
It sounds like you are saying you've had 8 games in 2 weeks, is that right?
These are games with 1500 people in that pay 10 places and a good proportion of loose players at the start.
They are very hard to cash in and even harder to win.
I know, I have won one on Reefer and got my Green Ribbon :D
I can tell you that I played a lot of games for about three months with just a 12th place to show for it before the win.
The winning game involved a fair amount of good luck to accompany my outstanding skill and judgement.
It's not important to be way out in front though. When we made the final table I think I was running about 6th or 7th and the chip lead then changed hands several times before I came from behind, Heads Up to win.
It is genuinely hard to win one of these and you will need a lot of luck.
Statistically if everyone is of equal ability and has equal luck you are only going to win one in 1500 so don't be so hard on yourself.

yeah but ive been at least top 50 in a huge majority of these usually with a great stack, but I either go card dead or get mega-coolered! lol

I know how you feel, I use to play all those freerolls. There are just to many donks in the freerolls for me. only time i play them now is if i am bored. You may try this next time you hit that 30 players left and card dead. Click sitout for 10 to 15mins and take a break from it. and maybe when you come back you can get back into the game. Cause by the time you get to 30 peeps left you been playing a long time. Me personaly I get tired of playing that long and my game slips and i get knocked out.

Now I just play some of the major tourneys and alot of private tourneys. That is how I found my way here. I only deposit on reefer. I have put 80.00 into reefer since march09. 20 at a time. account is at 91.xx right now. that is only because of last week. only played 8 or 10 tourneys last week but cashed in 4 of them. Last time i cashed was over the summer. Seems to me you get on a roll every now and again. And when you hit that roll don't get up. just my opinion.

I don't mine private buyin tourneys. Beause I think or hope the players in these tourneys care so much more for the game then to just play any two cards.
