New Contest for August Only

It's summer and things are very slow, so it's time for some quality feedback from all the members.

Here's the question...If you ran Holdem Poker Chat what would you do differently? How would you go about attracting more members, more downloads, more players in the league games and more active members in general?

We're not looking for short answers here, so if you can't come up with a thoughtful post, don't even bother. ie: "more freerolls" will just piss me off.

This contest is open to everyone but me. The most thought provoking post with unique ideas will win $25.

I can only speak for myself but the thing that attracted me to HPC was the 24 hr marathon. It's very unique and I haven't seen anything like it. I believe if you're good at poker u have that certain competitive make-up that makes you want to compete and to do that vs friends at your own site all the better. I realize that it's not something that can be done on a regular basis b/c of all the variables that go into it...but what about mini marathons?? Like maybe 6 trnys..no $$ added just for competion..or if $$ added all the better.. Just an idea. As for everything else I love the way the site is put together..Very organized and detail oriented. Hope I didnt piss u off with the more tourney comment..lol

Maybe with a point system for all 6 trnys...all $$ taken in will be divided to top 3 or whatever you decide. I don't know personally I like it and for the ppl that aren't able to play during the monthly tournamnets for whatever reason maybe for them to play on a Sat or Sun in a weekly mini would be fun. Just a thought.

We've run mini's in the past. Thanks for taking the time and making the suggestion. It's definitely something we can do again. btw, we have a marathon coming up next month. We haven't promoted it yet because we're still waiting on a confirmation from one of the sites.

I think this Idea might work to keep traffic up

How about a poster of the month award, Prize can be what ever you decide. Judge it on not how many post said poster has but more on the quality of the post/threads. That way we have more Threads to read, more discussion and less crappy spam type posts

Then you can award poster of the year and maybe they can get some swag around the 12 days of christmas promotion or something

I Think this will increase Forum traffic and keep it interesting.

This is my ideas and suggestions about improved your site and making a better community.
I hope you like my ideas, there is so much you can do with the website when you have sponsorships and enough money.

Marathon 24/7

Forget about the marathon if there going to be 24 hours in many different poker softwares that people doesn't have bankroll at everyone.
To be honest I can't see it be good to have 24 hours marathon yet since there is not so much members that are active here.

Leagues

First of all created a topics about the league.

I never realize anything when you going to have leagues or anything, so what about sending out in Pms too not only emails since I rarely watching on my poker e-mail.
I rarely see you created a league in Pokerstars & Full Tilt , there quite a lot of players is playing.
Put a Holdem Poker Chat in yours blogs to enter this league or anything, do something to attracted people here.
You can have league running each summers, each springs, each winters, each autumns.
In summer you can run 2 tournaments each weekend(saturday and sundays) and the same goes for everyone.
Each of the leagues could be one from Pokerstars, one from Full Tilt, one from PokerPoker and one from UltimateBet.
All of them is buy-ins tournament and almost end of the summer/springs/winter/autums.
You can have either password or listed players to get a freeroll for like $2000 for top 10/25/50/100 depending of much people that are entering.
The freeroll could also be a cool swags, depending quite a lot what you want to put in as prizes.

Note: If you not like this one you can run it each months like you do now

Events

Christmas - I love those swags you had last years so would like you to continue with that.
This time what about putting X-box 360, PSP or something like that.

Valentine - Hmm.. I think you can come up with something nice in Valentine.

Themes

When there is summer you can have a happy theme like a beach or something in the forum design.

When there is winter you can have santa, snowman or anything in the forum design.

and so on.

what would i do to attract more members?

i think here the main goal is to make members love the site, make them
feel this is their home, their place, their online community..

i know its a poker forum but how about creating an online community
that discuss about other topics and not just poker..
how about music, gadgets, tv shows,sports, movies and things like that..
i dont suggest politics or religion because we come from many parts of
the world and each of us have their own values, their own religion and
also those are topicsthat may offend other members.. My main suggestion is to rebuild the lounge.. instead of having the lounge in the part of Everything Else we could have the Lounge as a main part of the forum and there we
can have the topics of: -Music, Movies, Tv Shows, Gadgets and technology, Sports, Jokes, News.. things like that.. we can vote to define those topics..

Now talking about poker the main reason of the forum i suggest a few
things.. the only thing that i agree with unknown is to make a thread about
the league.. there we can write who won each day, bad beats things like
that..

Poker software... how about giving free poker software to new players who sign into a poker site using our banners or codes.. they must reach to a certain rakeback or something like that.. and also we could sell the software to existing players (poker trackers, bankroll management software, etc..)

professional coaching.. make a deal with poker vt, cardrunners, stox poker or at least write about those sites where poker players can learn more about poker with online lessons.. same thing as the software free lessons for new players who reach certain rakeback..

after some thought about how to attract more people , this is what i came up with . everybody love a freeroll , and most of us will play in other leagues just for this purpose . the money added games are nice but compared to the freerolls , can't be compared . why not start up a freeroll league ? daily freerolls , say $25 and make it that they are at different sites so everyone out there sees our name on those sites and have to come here for the daily passwords . for the added bonus that at the end of the month , we have a monthly game for top 100 players in the freerolls for them to play for a chance of say $50 . from there , the winner from there can even get a chance for a one on one game with a pro such as yourself FONZI or one of your administers . at the end of the year , a yearly game of all the monly top players for $100 game?

another idea is more of an insentive program from the word of mouth ? the more people that we tell to join here and put us as a referance to joining here gets money ? such as if i get 5 people to join here and use my name for a refferal i get a dollar or so . i get 10 people to join , i get $3 . 15 people could be $7 , 20 people for $10 , and so on .

heads up tourneys are always fun . increaments of 2 of course so theres never any bys in the game , small buy-in for them and maybe a added $25 to the pot to make it more interesting or insentive . make into a league also so at the end of the month , make it into an added bonus games for the top players .

this is what i've come up with so far , will add on if i think of anything else , untill then , we have a great site here and i love it . weeeeeeeee , lol .

How about running some games other than NLHE? Like Stud HI/LO 8, Omaha HI/LO 8, Razz, and Draw Poker. That might liven up the discussion because people are not so used to playing these games. As a result, there should be more questions, answers, and activity in the forum. Maybe a contest on which players do the best overall in the different games. They could be spread out over time-something to look forward to. Just to get a break from NLHE and to get some discussion going....and... a whole new set of bad beat stories!
