Cash game at Carson Valley Inn, Minden, NV

No trip to Tahoe/Reno is complete without a stay at the Carson Valley Inn. I can't hit for anything in their casino, but their poker room is wonderful! It's my favorite poker room, anywhere! There are always two kegs of beer on tap for your drinking pleasure; Bud and Bud light (what do you want for free? Heineken?) I like Bud Light, so its fine with me! They have finger food out for lunch and dinner and cookies out all the time. Their have a soft drink fridge with bottled water and other drinks, upon request. Their 'house game' is a $2-6 spread limit. The first night, I taught one of my brothers the barest minimum of how to play. I staked him $100 and hoped for the best. By the end of about 1/2 hr, he'd only lost about $15. Not too bad for a noob. I am proud of him.

In the first hour there was a lovely older lady, maybe about 70 yrs+. She was pretty new to poker and had placed 4th in their daily tournament. She was so nice, that she lost in excess of $70 to me alone. By the time Bob wanted to go for dinner, I was able to pay to two steak dinners at CVI's steak house with the lovely senior's money. After dinner, she was gone, presumably to bed..and I only cleared another $10.

I went to CVI about a year ago and played some blackjack and 3card poker. I went to the poker room but they didn't have a game going.

Joe, if you ever go back to the Casron Valley Inn, try to get there for a Sat night. I've played in a whole of tournies against you and I know how good you are. The poker room at CVI on a Sat night has their ONLY NL cash game. There is a guy named Bert who drops about 10K when he plays the NL. He only goes over to CVI occasionally, now (he's old) but when he's in town, the regulars ALL play NL, even if they don't even play NL (most of their players play the $2-6 spread). HOWEVER the last time Bert was in town he played table games, so the poker room make the announcement, "Bert, your $1-2 NL seat is available." he didn't bite (unfortunately. The poker room dealers told me last time that there are now a few folks like Bert who just raise and reraise SIMPLY FOR THE ACTION. Bert is the only one I know personally (if you have a cute wife/girlfriend, have her come with yuo and try to sit near Bert; he loves to flirt with the young ladies).
