The Poker Players Alliance has announced National Poker Week July 19-25. During a press conference at the Rio during the WSOP, PPA Executive Director John Pappas and PPA Chairman Alfonse D'Amato announced new initiatives and activities planned for that week in Washington DC.
The new website for the events is
National Poker Week. There players can hear Barney Frank discuss the need for them to act. Sign the petition to the President, upload your own video about playing the game we love, and join the PPA all from the new site.
In Washington DC, the PPA will hold a rally in support of poker. Additionally, PPA representatives and professional poker players will be meeting with members of congress to tell their side of the poker story. A charity poker game will be held to benefit the USO and the Malone House at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
PPA Chairman and former U.S. Senator Alfonse D'Amato:
"National Poker Week, with events in Washington, D.C., and across the country, is the PPA's way to make it clear to my former colleagues in the U.S. Congress that poker is important to voters and is here to stay,"
