ePassporte has not issued a public statement on their decision to withdraw from the online poker market, but were pressured by US authorities to exit the market. As ePassporte's letter stated, the decision was in response to "a widespread investigation of Internet gambling, including poker, by the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Southern New York."
The ePassporte letter to online poker sites also included this: "Although we do not believe we have done anything illegal, we do not wish to be associated with anything that might be considered illegal by the United States Government."
